COSMETIC TATTOO FAQS

WHAT IS COSMETIC TATTOOING?

Cosmetic tattooing, commonly referred to as permanent makeup (PMU) or semi permanent makeup, has come a long way since it's inception in the early 80's and 90's.  With huge scientific advancements in the field, paired with a skilled technician, state of the art machines and pigments, we are now able to create beautiful, undetectable enhancements that are stable, don't change colour and age beautifully over time. These popular, safe and non invasive cosmetic treatments, involve the skilled insertion of state of the art cosmetic pigments with a machine or manual blade into the dermis layer of the skin.

WILL IT LOOK NATURAL?

We are in the business of undetectable, natural looking work. Our aim is always for a daytime look that you will still feel comfortable in on your no makeup days.  Our work should enhance your features, not overpower or take away from them.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Depending on the treatment, your skintype, lifestyle, the pigment will fade slowly over 6 months to 2-5 years. For the best results ongoing, a refresher roughly every 1-3 years is recommended.

DOES IT HURT?

A strong compound anaesthetic is used throughout all our treatments and any discomfort, if any, is minimal (or for a very short period of time) to none. Most clients either fall asleep or chat their entire way through the treatment.

CAN I BRING A FRIEND?

We don't recommend it, no.  We work more efficiently when it is just you and your therapist.  We pride ourselves on providing a warm and inviting space to make sure, you the client, feels empowered to contribute or collaborate on your cosmetic tattoo design.  Friends, family or partners usually complicate this process.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY APPOINTMENT?

Firstly, a free 15 min consultation is had prior to booking to make sure the treatment is right for you and answer any questions you may have. Alternatively you can book a consult and treatment on the same day as long as you have read through the FAQs prior and there are no red flags.

Firstly shape is designed with thorough communication with you, shape is extremely important and we never rush through it. Once we are 100% happy with the pre draw the treatment will start, usually taking around 2-3hrs from start to finish.

All first time clients will require a 2 part treatment. Initial treatment and touchup treatment, 4-8 weeks later. During the first treatment, the shape is measured, a pigment colour is chosen. Depending on the clients skintone, hair colour, eyebrow hair, lashes or lip tone as well as considering the desired outcome. The treatment consists of several 'passes' inserting the pigment into the dermis with a microblade hand tool or specialised state of the art, PMU machine.

Your touch up appointment is then scheduled for 4-8 weeks later. During this second treatment, the brows, eyeliner or lips are gone over with a fine tooth comb and perfected to suit depending on how you have healed. Any adjustments in colour, size or intensity are adjusted.
